SYDENHAM HILL WOOD

This series - commissioned by The Dulwich Diverter was taken in Sydenham Hill Wood, the largest remnant of the historic Great North Wood and one of the closest ancient woodland to central London.

Marks of past life are imprinted deep into the ground. Relics of luxurious Victorian villas that once stood alongside the wood are gradually submerged by nature.

The railway bridge from which French Impressionist Pissaro painted View towards Lordship Lane Station still stands but the original landscape is unrecognizable. The track line is now a narrow footpath bordered by tall tress, shrubs and high grass.
