THE WALWORTH ROAD

Home to one of the oldest markets in England, the Walworth Road is located just south of the river in London. In recent years the area has undergone a massive urban regeneration programme, which has posed a threat to the fabric of local life.

Shot a few months before the work started, the series takes us on a journey down the Walworth Road and surrounding area. It captures the idiosyncratic character of the place, its disappearing customs, shopkeepers in their last days of trading, and quirky locals, with their stories and their memories.
